usinesses, community groups and individuals are joining forces this winter to help homeless and vulnerable individuals across the city. Wrap Up Newport, a charity project being run by Pride In Pill, is based on a simple premise; the donation of second-hand coats and distribution to those most in need.
This winter will be the first time the Wrap Up campaign has run in Wales, however, it has already been successful in other parts of the UK. In 2017, Wrap Up London distributed over twenty thousand coats to help people keep warm through the winter.
So, how can you get involved?
There are drop off points located across Newport, including Asda Pill, Tesco Spytty and the Kingsway shopping centre. Meanwhile smaller businesses, schools and groups are running their own private collections. It’s not too late to run your own collection, or simply dig through the wardrobe for your old coats.
A couple of minutes donating your old coat will make a massive difference to an individual in need. Men, women and children across our city have to endure the cold each winter, unable to afford the basic luxury of a warm coat. This is your chance to make a real difference to their lives.
Newport City Radio are proud to be supporting the Wrap Up Newport initiative and will be bringing you more information about this project throughout November.
Donations are being accepted until the 30th November 2018. You can find out more information here.
